Forged Performance: Dual Purpose GT-R

The last weekend of July, Forged Performance held our first annual Atlanta Motorsports Park HPDE Track Event. This program was open to all makes and models of vehicles, so in return we had an extremely large range of automobiles, participants and guests in attendance. One of the guests that happened to drop by the check out the action was John, an avid BMW enthusiast and AMP member. John has a love affair with BMW’s high performance luxury sedan, the almighty M5. With two currently in his stable, he planned on spending his member days at AMP ripping on the V10 that powers his E60 M5. But after spending some time observing a handful of Forged Performance built and tuned GT-R’s pulverizing the pavement at AMP, John decided to pursue the pre-owned GT-R marketplace. Apparently John was quickly impressed, because within two weeks of our event, he stopped by our facility with his new toy, a very clean low mileage 2009 GT-R in Nissan’s gunmetal paint which while very understated, looks stunning in the proper light. After a comprehensive walk around of John’s new baby, we crafted a suitable game plan to make his GT-R a powerful precise track-day machine. We spoke in length about what the goals for the car were and how John would be using the vehicle. This is probably the most important discussion we have with every customer, and the reason so many perfectly balanced GT-R’s come out of our shop. While it became clear that this GT-R would spend most of its time lapping AMP, it would also see it’s fair share of street usage and the typical Sunday afternoon cruises through the city. Keeping this mind, we did our best to retain comfortable street car manners while also transforming John’s GT-R’s into a true monster on track. Our carefully applied plan of modifications has resulted in what we like to think as one of the most capable dual purpose cars in the state of Georgia, and with absolutely no compromises in comfort or safety both on track and on the street. For those that frequent Atlanta Motorsports Park, keep an eye our for John and his GT-R and if you’re on track with him, make sure to watch your mirrors and prepare your index finger to hand out a point by ;)
